Kenya Revenue Authority has cleared 11 betting firms for operations and to resume using mobile networks to receive wagers from bettors.
The 11 are: Betway, OdiBet, Ken Book Makers, Lucky To You, BetBoss, Easi Bet, Kick Off, Eastleigh Bet and Palms Bet.
27 betting firms saw their operating licenses suspended last week pending tax and regulatory compliance.
KRA indicated the 11 had complied with regulations but gave no indication as to the fate of the others including betting giants Sport Pesa (Pevan East Africa) and BetIn registered as Betpawa.
The tax agency is demanding billions from the two industry heavyweights in arrears. They have contested the claims.
The Betting Control and Licensing Board has asked the Financial Reporting Centre to investigate the bank accounts of all 27 firms.
Betin has sued BCLB and had sought interim orders to waive is suspension but High Court Judge Weldon Korir declined to issue the injunction sought,
Instead he directed the parties to file their submissions for the case to be heard on 26 July.
